Beginnings….

Blogging wasn’t something that I really ever saw myself doing much less blogging about a hobby that is quickly turning into something so much more. I’ve spent my day pouring over books and other blogs trying to learn exactly how to make this work. The truth is that the only real way to do this is to speak from the heart about something that really matters to you.

As a child, I watched my great grandmother crochet for hours on end. I watched her make afghan after afghan, and I saw how many people coveted them. She couldn’t teach me as I was too young and eventually she got dementia making it impossible. She died when I was in college, and I thought I would never learn. Last year, I started looking for youtube tutorials. I searched high and low letting myself start and stop so many different projects until I finally found the tutorial that worked for me, and I was on my way. I bought so much yarn (mostly Red Heart if I was honest) and other necessary utensils for projects I wasn’t even sure if I could finish. I didn’t know how to read a pattern. I remember starting where I’d wrap the yarn around the hook then pull it forward with my fingers til I made the perfect stich. I was aware that this wasn’t the proper way, but it didn’t matter. I was learning.

Once I was confident enough to do projects in public my best friend and I were seen crocheting in coffee shops, patios, and even bars. It was an adventure. I didn’t know where I was going with it even then until finally I had so many different projects and not enough friends to give them away to, and I started my store. This lead me to finally starting this blog. I wanted to be able to share my story and products with all of you.

I started with scarves and moved onto full afghans before I finally found the beauty of the mug hug. This is such an easy pattern to finish in something like an hour. If you’re looking for something quick and easy to pass time then I suggest this one. I look forward to making many more plus other projects to share with you soon.
